Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Licensing Manager to join the Born Licensing team. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our licensed advertising business, responsible for managing client projects end-to-end, driving revenue against clear targets, and delivering exceptional results for advertising agencies, their clients, and rights holders alike.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment and is passionate about licensing, brand partnerships, and delivering exceptional results for clients and rights holders alike.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Campaign Delivery
- Own and manage licensed advertising projects from initial brief through to full campaign delivery, serving as the primary point of contact for advertising agencies and clients.
- Familiarise yourself with all rights holders’ property portfolios, understanding do’s and don’ts’ for their characters/clips
- Develop an understanding of how each rights holder reviews and processes licensed advertising opportunities including their key stakeholders, turnaround times and brand assurance processes.
- Research and identify suitable characters, clips, and IP in response to advertising agency briefs, presenting well-considered licensing options with clarity and confidence.
- Develop and manage detailed project timelines, ensuring all internal and external stakeholders meet agreed milestones and deadlines.
- Manage all submissions and approvals via licensor platforms such as MediaBox and LAS, liaising directly with rights holders’ brand assurance teams to secure timely sign-off.
- File and document all submissions and approvals via Born Licensing’s internal tracking systems, ensuring trackers are kept up to date.
- Demonstrate the value Born Licensing provides to advertising agencies, clients, and Rights Holders alike by streamlining the resource-heavy approvals process and seeking creative solutions where necessary.
- Attend and lead project calls, production meetings, and WIP sessions, maintaining clear documentation and follow-through on all action items.
- Produce post-campaign summary decks for licensors, capturing final assets and campaign outcomes.
- Assist in payment process, setting up agencies and Rights Holders on each other’s vendor/supplier platforms and chasing for payments where necessary.
Revenue Targets & Commercial Performance
- Take ownership of market revenue targets within the Born Licensing business, proactively managing pipeline and activity to consistently meet or exceed goals.
- Track and report on commercial performance, providing regular updates to senior leadership on deal status, revenue forecasting, and key metrics.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to grow existing client relationships, maximising revenue potential within each account.
- Support the negotiation of licensing agreements, working within established frameworks to achieve favourable commercial outcomes for the business.
Client & Licensor Relationship Management
- Compile and maintain a list of advertising agencies that we want to work with – setting up introduction meetings and Licensing Workshops when requested.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with advertising agencies, brand clients, and rights holders worldwide.
- Act as a reliable and knowledgeable partner to clients, providing expert guidance on the licensing process, usage rights, and campaign execution.
- Request testimonials from agencies upon successful campaign completion and identify opportunities to celebrate and share campaign wins.
- Arrange appropriate gifts or recognition for agency and brand partners to mark campaign launches and milestones.
B2b Marketing & Lead Generation
- Add new contacts to Born Licensing’s mailing list.
- Assist with creating content for Born Licensing’s social media channels & comms
- Compile press releases for licensing industry when we have new work/important news to share
- Create blogposts and case studies for Born Licensing’s website
- Maintain supplies of Born Licensing’s branded marketing material (e.g. brochures/branded bags/comp slips etc.)
Reporting, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on project status, revenue performance, pipeline activity, and key account developments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across all active projects, ensuring clear visibility for the wider team at all times.
- Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, workflows, and tools to enhance efficiency and campaign quality.
- Stay across industry trends, rights holder developments, and emerging opportunities within the licensed advertising space, sharing insights with the team proactively.
Essential Skills:
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in licensing, entertainment, advertising, or a related commercial role.
- Proven track record of managing projects to successful completion within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Experience in an account management role
- Demonstrated experience working to and achieving revenue or commercial targets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging clients, agencies, and rights holders at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills with outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Experience with licensor approval platforms (e.g. MediaBox, LAS) or similar project/rights management systems.
- Commercially minded with strong judgment and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-moving environment.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and across multiple time zones.
- Passion for licensing, brand partnerships, and the creative industries.
