Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Packaging and Information Systems Manager and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Candidate will have overall responsibility for the managing and operating contractor at the WIPP for the design authority for the Type B Packagings, payloads, payload containers, and Waste Information Tracking Systems They will also be responsible for the control account manager (CAM) duties for the Packaging and Integration Systems Group.
This position requires strong communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to interface with internal and external customers and organizations from across the TRU Waste Complex, including the Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Organizational skills and project management duties are extremely important. Must ensure that compliance with the applicable regulatory, quality assurance and safety requirements are adhered to and maintained at all times in order to support the WIPP mission.
Responsibilities include:
Retains overall responsibility for the Design Authority for the Packagings, Payloads, and Waste Information Tracking Systems (WITS) programs.
Maintains and oversees programs and processes for conducting design and development activities that meet quality assurance (QA) and contractual requirements.
Acts as liaison for Packaging Engineering, Payloads Engineering, and WITS to communicate packaging, payloads, WITS matters with internal and external clients, other departments, and executive management, with the assistance of the Packaging Engineering Manager, Payloads Engineering Manager and WITS Manager as applicable.
Assigns duties, tasks, and responsibilities to Packaging Engineering, Payloads Engineering, WITS personnel, and provides necessary resources to achieve these duties and tasks.
Works closely with and receives necessary technical input from the Packaging Engineering, Payloads Engineering, WITS Managers to make informed decisions on applicable technical issues and program direction.
Provides leadership and promotes organizational excellence in support of Packaging, Payloads and WITS deliverables through direct example and mentorship.
Creates and supports a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Maintains safety culture and management accountability consistent with the Integrated Safety Management System objectives.
Adheres to all management policies contained in CBFO MP 1.29, Mission, Goals, and Responsibilities.
Adheres to the configuration management process.
Adheres to the Conduct of Operations Program.
Responsible for Control Account Manager duties for the Packaging and Information Systems Group.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM, Business, or Program Management related field with nine (9) years of professional experience is required.
Experience must include three (3) years working under a quality assurance program and three (3) years experience in project management duties.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements
Experience with Nuclear Regulatory commision Type B packages.
American Society for Non-destructive Testing (ASNT), Non-destructive Testing (NDT) experience or qualifications.
Direct experience related to the position is preferred.

Exempt grade level(s) 36-40. Minimum salary $131,144 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
