Level Designer, Electronic Arts, Inc., Redwood City, CA.Design levels and map updates from early blockouts through to release. Work closely with the dev team to develop the vision for the map. Collaborate with art and narrative department to develop a cohesive vision for the map. Analyze existing maps and bring solutions to problem spaces through updates. Digest qualitative feedback from UXR and community to recommend how to update the map in future releases. Ensure a high-quality release by bug fixing, balancing, and polishing the map. 40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Salary: $153,691 - $179,600/yr. EA offers benefits incl PTO, medical/dental/vision insurance & 401(k) to eligible E’ees. Certain roles eligible for bonus & equity.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Entertainment Arts, Game Design, Interactive Technology, Visual Development, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in a game design-related occupation.
Qualifying experience must include three (3) years of experience in the listed skills (which may be gained concurrently):
Scripting languages such as JavaScript, Perl, AWK, Python, Bash or similar;
Writing game design documentation;
Diagnosing and fixing bugs;
Block out maps and gather feedback to iterate rapidly;
Level design in Battle Royale, multiplayer or action genre;
Scripting and building in game engines such as Unreal, Frostbite, Unity, GtkRadiant;
Agile Methodology; and
Collaborating with Designers, Engineers, and Tech Artists.
Up to 10% domestic/international travel possible based on business need.
